Invisalign® Sarnia: A Clear Aligners Guide
Searching for Invisalign Sarnia? We’ve put together this valuable Invisalign® Clear Aligners guide for our Sarnia, Ontario and Lambton County communities.
You may have heard about Invisalign® in the past but aren’t quite sure exactly what it is or how it works. Perhaps Invisalign® would be a great clear braces option for you, but you need more information on it before making a decision.
Here’s everything you need to know…
What is Invisalign®?
Invisalign® is a form of removable orthodontics. Orthodontics is a dental specialty that focuses on straightening teeth and jaws to properly align them for an ideal bite. Traditionally, metal brackets and wires used to be the only way you could straighten your teeth. Now that Invisalign® is available, it’s commonly requested by our patients, especially adults.
How Does Invisalign® Work?
Invisalign® uses a series of rigid, clear, BPA-free plastic aligners that move your teeth without fixed appliances. The aligners are custom fabricated using state of the art technology at an Invisalign® facility. Each set of aligners is meant to be worn for about two weeks.
The aligners/trays fit snug around your teeth. Each pair is slightly different than the last, mapping the transition your smile will take. The gentle tightness and pressure that each aligner applies to your teeth is what causes them to move.
How Long Does Invisalign® Take to Work?
Each pair of trays should be worn for two weeks. The number of hours per day that the aligners should be in your mouth is at least 22 hours, giving you plenty of time for meals and hygiene. Your orthodontic appliances should only be removed to eat or brush and floss your teeth. Wearing your aligners as prescribed will help your results come along more quickly.
The amount of time that a person’s Invisalign® treatment will take depends on their individual situation. On average, Invisalign® takes about twelve months. Some people requiring minor amounts of movement can be completed in as little as 12 weeks. Once Dr Karen Davis Dentistry has completed your evaluation, we’ll be able to provide you with an estimate as to how long your treatment will take.
How Much Does Invisalign® Cost?
The cost of Invisalign® depends on how long your treatment will take and the number of aligners needed. On average, Invisalign® is less expensive than traditional braces. Once we’ve determined the length of your Invisalign® treatment, we can discuss financial options and specifics with you to find something that fits your budget.
What Is the Process of Getting Invisalign® in Sarnia?
If you’re interested in straightening your teeth with Invisalign® in Sarnia, we’ll first need to see you for a complimentary consultation and exam. During this time, we’ll gather some information and take an intraoral scan of your teeth (which will show a digital replica of your dentition and tissue.) We ‘ll also take a few digital x-rays and photos for treatment planning purposes.
All the information we gather will be sent electronically to Invisalign® labs. Once there, our Sarnia dentist will review your case with an Invisalign® specialist to map out your treatment plan.
When we have all of the data on hand, we’ll discuss specifics such as how long your orthodontic journey will take, and we can even show you a simulation of what your teeth will look like before you start treatment. At this point we will also discuss cost and payment options available.
If you’re ready to move forward with Invisalign® in Sarnia, we’ll proceed with getting the aligners made. Every set of trays that you’ll wear throughout the entirety of your treatment are made in advance. This process keeps the number and length of your appointments to a minimum!
We’ll send you home with a few pairs of aligners at a time. Dr. Davis likes to see you in office monthly so that we can check your progress. As long as everything is moving along as expected, we’ll send you with more aligners to take home.
What Happens When I’m Done with Invisalign®?
What happens when you’ve complete your Invisalign® treatment in Sarnia? In order to keep your teeth looking their best and in the proper alignment, you’ll need to wear a retainer.
Retention devices prevent your teeth from moving. Most of the time, we will make a set of Vivera Retainers. These trays look much like your Invisalign® aligners. Wear them every night while you sleep. Retainers are a good way to keep your teeth where they should be and prevent possible relapse.
